The program is two parts, the server and the client. To be able to play you must first start a server and then as many clients as desired.
The Server
The server will listen at the port specified for clients wishing to connect. Enter a port number and press 'Start server'.
A table will shows the players as they connect, it's visible until you decide to start the game by pressing 'Start game'. Any client trying to connect after this will be refused.
The Client
To connect to the server you need to know the name or IP address of the machine running the server as well as the port number. You also enter the name you wish to be associated with during the game.
You then get a dialog where you, by clicking at the pictures, select the playing pice that you want. The icons will become ghosted as other players select their pices. After having selected a pice the client waits for the server to start the game.
The game proceeds turn wise, every turn you can roll the dice and move. To move press 'roll dice', this will highlight all valid move destinations on the playing board. Clicking on one of these will move your playing pice to that location, and if you didn't enter a room you turn will be over. If you are in, or enter, a room you can make a suggestion. The suggestions are the hart of the game, a suggestion is a combination of one person, one weapon and one room (the room will always be the one you currently are in). These three cards are show to all players, then the first player (in order) that has one, or more, of these cards have to show one of these to you. This is the way you get more information in your quest for the guilty. [ There should also be a possibility to make an accusation, this is how the game end. If the accusation was wrong, you loose and can no longer move, make suggestions or accusations but are still required to show your cards if a suggestion or accusation is made. If the accusation if correct, you win and the game is over. ] Follow this link for a more complete set of rules and some hints to the original board game. |
