Chris Mortician, PFL Insider, brings you all of the inside info from the PFL. Today, in the Mortician report, he'll bring you the inside scoop on the PFL season 8 big game, Reggaes vs. Drivers and he'll also provide his insight onto various situations throughout the league. All right, week 7 is almost upon us and it's time for the two powerhouses of the league, the Drivers and the Reggaes, to determine who is going to be king of the regular season. I think a breakdown of the key matchups will show clearly who should win this game. Drivers OL vs. Reggaes DL Most games are won in the trenches, this one won't be any different. The once formidable offensive line of the Drivers has succumbed to injuries with starting RT Tom Scott on the shelf for the past couple of weeks and rookie C Barret Robbins serving his 3 game suspension for biting Scorpion DT Henry Ford. The Reggaes have formidable DE's in Hamilton and Carrol but are very soft in the middle with rookie Tau Pupua being overmatched most of the season. Hamilton usually lines up at left DE and will be matched up against FA Lindsey Knapp, look for this to be a key matchup. If Hamilton overpowers Knapp, advantage Reggaes. Edge:Slightly towards the Reggaes. Reggaes OL vs. Drivers DL The Reggaes have problems on the interior of their OL. C John Reagan is an undersized C that survives on his smarts, LG Brad Hopkins is also slightly undersized while RG Bernard Williams, while having good size, is slower off the snap now that he's in his 10th year. This is a potential problem for the Reggaes in that Driver DT Kevin Patrick is having an All Pro type of year and feasts on undersized lines. Driver DE's Gerald Dixon and Mike Mamula have the size and speed to contain the Reggae OT's. This matchup is a clear advantage to the Drivers. Edge:Drivers Deadwiler vs. Drivers Secondary Derrick Deadwiler has exploded this year into the PFL, catching anything and everything thrown to him. The Reggaes do have Sean Dawkins, too, but his touches are way down this year with the emergence of Deadwiler. Deadwiler is the type of receiver that gives the Driver secondary fits, big, fast, and physical. The injury to S David Wilson really hampers the Drivers in terms of covering Dawkins but backup Darrell Whitmore is a more than capable backup. If Matthews doesn't spread the ball around and tries to lock in on Deadwiler, look for the Driver secondary to have a big game. Edge:Drivers Reggaes LB's and DB's vs. Drivers Offense. The Reggaes have the best set of LB's ever seen in the PFL since last years Drivers. The defensive secondary, led by Dana Hall, lost a key member in Melvin Johnson this past week, but is still a very solid group. The problem the Reggaes are faced with is who do they try to cover? The Drivers are one of the top rushing teams with HB Tony Vinson but, over the past couple of games, have slowly turned into an efficient passing team, too. The Drivers use 4 different receivers, 7 players on the Driver roster have 5 or more catches this season. Does this spell doom for the Reggaes? No, it just makes their job that much harder. Look for the Reggaes to do a good job at slowing down the Drivers Offense. Edge:Slight Reggaes. So, what's the bottom line? This game will be decided the same way that last game between these two teams was decided:turnovers. You can analyze until you are blue in the face but this one will come down to turnovers. My prediction? Drivers 24, Reggaes 13. Around the league...... The Predators were riding high at 2-3, looking forward to getting their record upt to 3-3 when they took a wrong turn against the Ravens. Coach Mongo wanted some exposure in my column, so I'll give it to him. The two point call for the win was a gutsy move and will pay dividends with his players. Players like to rally around a coach who wants to win. The botched onside attempt(and attempt and attempt and attempt ....) is the difference between a winning franchise and a winning challenged franchise: attention to detail. The Predators will regroup, and Ken Ealy will learn where to lineup on the onside kick. I see the Preds. suprising a few teams by the end of the season. How the Angels have fallen. This proud franchise, winner of the inagural Piffle bowl, has fallen onto hard times. Vaughn Dunbar is unhappy with the way the team is going, back up HB Calvin Jones is unhappy with his playing time. The Angels have been getting inspiring play from LB Winfred Tubbs and WR Curtis Conway. Rumors out of Portland have the Angels management looking at augmenting their coaching staff. More on this later. My sources in Gothenburg say that things are getting ugly for HB Russell White. It seems that his production is down this year and the fans have been booing him mercilessly. Now, it appears that Coach Johansson has had some choice words for his star HB and White had some back. My sources tell me that at the end of this season, even possibly by the week 8 trading deadline, White could be playing for a different team. My sources tell me that White to Orlando for one of the Predator WR's is the hot deal at this time. Again, more as I hear it. Finally, my sources in the college ranks tell me that two players to look for in the first round in the next PFL draft are Donnie Edwards and Keshawn Johnson. My sources say that both of these players could go very high in the 1st round.
